Evan Sears, Project Manager, Youth Fix-To-Own Program

Evan is a photographer and production coordinator with over 15 years of photography and video production experience. He currently works as a freelance editorial portrait photographer providing on-location portraits for many Chicago-based magazines and national clients. In addition to working behind the camera, he also coordinates production workflows for a national internet-based advertising company.

An avid cyclist since childhood, Evan’s interest in cycling was further energized while working as a bike messenger in Chicago for two years after college. You’ll now find him commuting around the city on his bikes made from used and reclaimed parts. He is a novice track cyclist who hopes to start racing competitively during the 2012 season.

 

Karolyn Raphael, President of Winger Marketing

Karolyn is the Award Winning President of Winger Marketing. Her work in strategy, media placements, PR training and community outreach has led to over 20 years of media and communications experience. In addition to creating city-wide awareness, Karolyn has also secured placements in Chicago Magazine, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Parenting Magazine, and Modern Healthcare. Karolyn and the Winger Marketing staff support Chicago Velo Campus in all their marketing and promotional efforts, including community outreach, media placements, social media and sponsorships.

 

Stefanie Glickman, Account Executive at Winger Marketing

Stefanie is an Account Executive at Winger Marketing. With her skill set including event planning, community relations, and social media, she is able to effectively assist clients with all their project needs. She has had much success in the media with stories published in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Crain’s Chicago Business, and The Washington Post. Stefanie assists the Chicago Velo Campus in their event planning, marketing efforts, social media and community outreach.

 

Joan Angulo, President of Joan Angulo & Associates

Joan Angulo is a strategic marketing specialist with a background in consumer centric and business to business marketing programs.  Joan began her career in New York at the historic Scali, McCabe, Sloves Agency and was recruited to the Midwest by Kraft Foods in Glenview, Illinois.  At Kraft Joan developed national packaged goods products in the sales promotion arena. Joan honed her knowledge of promotion, direct marketing, and sponsorship, used in successful conjunction with classic advertising.   Joan joined Albert J Rosenthal and then DFM/Tatham in Chicago, and then began her own agency in 1985.

Mark Lauterbach, Design and Planning
Vice President/Senior Designer, RTKL Associates, Inc.

Mark leads client projects for RTKL in both in the United States and internationally with a strong focus in China. With 25-years of industry experience, his expertise includes urban design, mixed-use, retail, entertainment, residential, office, hotel and civic projects.

Mark has extensive experience designing sporting and entertainment complexes including the mixed-use redevelopment to reposition the Texas Ranger’s stadium in Arlington, Texas; the Malibu Speedzone racing theme park in Dallas, Texas; and a competition design for the new indoor Beijing Olympic Stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has been a lifelong athlete, competing at Arizona State University as a track and cross country athlete, followed by several years of competitive cycling and biathlon events.

 

Dave Moyer, Demographics and Racing
Master’s in Public Policy Candidate, University of Chicago

Dave is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy at the University of Chicago with a focus on educational policy. He has worked in the research and foundation communities focusing on education issues at both the Institute for Policy Research and the Spencer Foundation.

Dave is also an elite track and road racer who is the 2009 Illinois state points race champion and 2010 Illinois criterium champion. He pursues an aggressive racing schedule on both the road and the track on the regional and national level. He has a BA in History from Northwestern University.

 

John Vande Velde, Racing Consultant
Race Promoter

John is a former professional bicycle racer, and has spent the balance of his career in executive and promotional roles at both the American and International levels of cycling. John designed a portable velodrome called the Vandedrome, and led all aspects of installation and its promotion throughout North America.

John has a decorated racing career, and has been influential in the development of U.S. Cycling. In the 1970?s he raced the six-day circuit in Europe and North America and rode with the first professional American team, Shimano. He has represented the U.S. at the world championship level four times, is a two-time Olympian (’68-’72), and was inducted into the U.S. Cycling Hall of Fame in 2004. After retiring as a rider he continued in administrative roles, serving on the USAC and UCSF Board of Trustees and the UCI Track Commission among many other positions.

 

Jeremy Anderson, Marketing

Jeremy is an experienced marketer who works with Fortune 500 clients on strategic growth initiatives through a boutique consulting firm. He works with clients such as General Mills and Nestle, combining insights, analysis and inspiration into cohesive brands and innovations.

Jeremy is also a competitive triathlete and cyclist, qualifying for the 2009 world triathlon championships in Australia. An adventurer, he’s walked both the Pacific Crest and Appalachian trails from Mexico to Canada.

 

Randy Warren, Community Advocate
Cycling Coach and Program Specialist, Active Transportation Alliance

Randy is a Category 1 USAC cycling coach, and has worked on cycling initiatives at the Active Transportation Alliance (formerly Chicagoland Bicycle Federation) for 10 years. He has been coaching since 1987 and currently provides personalized coaching for Chicago-area cyclists as well as team services for XXX Racing – AthletiCo. He was extremely active in the collegiate cycling scene, coaching the cycling teams at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and the University of Redlands as well as serving as the athlete representative, at-large representative and the president of Collegiate Cycling.

Randy is an elite road and track racer and former master’s national champion in the points race. He races regularly and has been involved in developmental efforts for young cyclists for much of his career.

 

Morena Bresciani, Finance
CFO, PetEgo, LLC

Morena is an experienced financial manager with over twenty years of experience. She currently is the head financial officer of PetEgo, LLC overseeing, receivables, payables and larger strategic financial issues. Previously she served as CFO of EUROGROUP srl, where in addition to her financial responsibilities she instituted quality management procedures that ultimately led to the company becoming TUV, ISO 9001/2000 certified.

Morena is originally from Italy and currently makes Chicago her home. She graduated from the Einaudi Business Administration Institute in 1986.

 

Professor Dietmar Rempfer, Aerodynamics Specialist
Associate Professor, Aerospace Engineering and Associate Professor in Applied Mathematics, Illinois Institute of Technology

An accomplished specialist in incompressible fluid dynamics, Dietmar joined the team to aid in the construction of the wind tunnel facilities at CVC. He is a research scientist at the Fluid Dynamics Research Center (FDRC) at IIT, and has served as a consultant in vehicle aerodynamics, wind turbine design and testing and the space industry in Germany. Most importantly he is an expert in in modern methods for computer simulation of incompressible flows.

Dietmar is also a former road bicycle racer and triathlete. He earned his Habilitation, Ph.D. and MS from Universitat Stuttgart with specializations in Fluid Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering respectively.

 

Adam Herndon, Executive Assistant
Fleet Assistant, I-Go Carsharing

Adam has worked in the non-profit sector for three years with I-Go, a local car sharing company. For his job, Adam is out in the city riding his bike year round to assist members and interact with vendors. Thus he brings a very different perspective to the team.

Besides riding his bike for work, Adam also races for xXx-Athletico and will be on their Elite Development team for the 2011 year. He races primarily in road but also competes in track and cyclocross.  Apart from racing, Adam has promoted and ran races and founded a USAC sanctioned team.
